In this blog, Pac Food, food packaging specialists show our top tips for hosting a green Christmas party.
Christmas is a time for giving, but it’s also the time where there is often excessive waste. However, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Here are 4 ways you can make the festive season a little greener and more planet friendly, whether you run a commercial kitchen, food truck or market events.
4 Ways To Make Your Christmas Party More Eco-friendly
1. Choose Compostable Food Packaging
Compostable packaging will break down in as little as two months, and create nutrient rich material – a much better alternative to plastic!
EKO PAK’s 100% natural and sustainable range of tableware is made from bagasse – a by-product of sugarcane.
Depending on what delicious meals you’re serving up, there are a few options in our EKO PAK range, including bowls, rectangle trays and clamshells.

2. Use Reusable Cutlery
Why buy plastic cutlery when you’ve already got reusable forks, knives and spoons on hand?
If you do opt for reusable cutlery and serve ware you will no doubt cut your waste significantly.
3. Separate Your Waste into Different Bins
It’s a really good idea to have different bins for recyclables, general waste and compost – the latter is often forgotten! This will encourage guests to dispose of their waste more consciously (including their compostable food packaging) and it can help to make cleaning up even easier.
Also, if you’re getting towards the end of the night and there seem to be plenty of leftovers – why not offer them to your remaining guests? That way they’re less likely to end up in the bin.
4. Opt for A Real Tree or Reuse An Artificial One
Don’t put your artificial tree in the trash after one use! If you take care of it, it can last for many years!
And if you’re lucky enough to live in an area where you can pick a real tree – that’s an even better option!
